The sluggish economy has left many people unemployed, and a number of these individuals are not as marketable as young college graduates who are competing for similar jobs. For a person who is unemployed and over 50, it can be difficult to re-enter the workforce. Networking is another way individuals can make the most of their job hunt. An advantage that the younger generation has is the ability to navigate through websites, such as Facebook and Twitter. Although these sites may be intimidating, they are easy to use and a great way to connect to potential employers. Websites designed for working professionals, such as LinkedIn, can also help individuals showcase their skills and resume to companies looking to add to their staff.

The unemployment rate in January was 9%, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. By utilizing these tools to increase marketability, an individual can quickly land a job and re-enter the workforce.
