Looking to enhance future business leaders' resumes with additional public relations and corporate communications courses, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is spearheading a program aimed at master of business administration (MBA) programs.

According to a report by Kelton Research commissioned by the PRSA, 99% of business executives believe that recent MBA graduates are under-prepared in strategic communication and management skills.

To help address the problem, PRSA has been working with Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business to integrate more public relations courses into its curriculum. In addition, the organization said it is looking for 4 charter schools to implement a pilot program to add more PR courses next fall.

Tuck professor Paul Argenti said now is the perfect time for schools to focus on management studies.

"We look forward to working with PRSA and its partners to help spread the message about the imperative for today's business leaders to understand reputation and corporate communication strategy and methodology," Argenti added.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for public relations specialists are expected to grow by 24% through the end of the decade.
