Online Degrees in Business 'Help Students Compete'
Each day, professionals with careers in business try to prove they are capable of managing their company while staying ahead of the often unpredictable changes in the economy. While this type of management may seem to require at least a touch of clairvoyance, online degree programs can help students develop methodologies and gain the applicable skills to promote success.

Western Governors University, which serves more than 14,000 students from all 50 states, announced today that it will launch a new scholarship program for small business owners and employees who wish to continue their education.

"Small businesses are vital to the U.S. economy," said Patrick Partridge, WGU vice president of Marketing and Enrollment. "To help them compete with larger companies, these businesses need employees who have completed their degrees from a high-quality college or university."

The school's Small Business Leadership Scholarship will provide up to $3,000 toward tuition for as many as 30 students in pursuit of an online degree in business.

Students may opt to obtain a bachelor's degree in business management, IT management, human resource management, accounting or marketing.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment of advertising, marketing, public relations and sales managers will increase by 12 percent through 2016.
