The financial services sector is starting to see a rebound in the number of job postings in Connecticut, but at the same time, some companies say they are having a hard time finding enough qualified workers with experience on their resumes to fill open positions in the state.

According to the Hartford Business Journal, the financial services sector posted more job openings in the third quarter of 2011 than it did a year earlier, buoyed mostly by demand from the insurance industry. Overall the industry posted approximately 1,630 jobs during the third quarter, about a 7 percent increase over last year.

The Connecticut Insurance & Financial Services (IFS) Cluster, however, said some insurers are having a difficult time filling more than 800 open positions in the state, especially for actuarial and finance-related work.

Susan Winkler, executive director of IFS Cluster, told the news agency that she has heard that fewer companies also plan on decreasing their workforce numbers in the near future, with hiring expected to be slightly elevated through 2012.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for accountants and auditors are expected to grow by 22% through the end of the decade.
