A career in finance could potentially lead to a world of possibilities. In addition to the traditional financial jobs such as banking and accounting, several businesses require workers with financial experience to help in a time of crisis. With the market being so unsteady, many corporations are looking for financial offers to help guide them through the rough economy. One financial advisor who is switching business markets is Chris Liddell, who is making the jump from Microsoft's financial chief to General Motors' chief financial officer and vice chairman, according to the Wall Street Journal. Liddell left Microsoft in hopes of pursuing a job with more responsibility. According to the news source, he also wanted to try and work towards a chief executive position. Now a CFO, Liddell started off his financial career as an investment banker, proving it is possible to work up the ladder. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that financial managers can receive a high salary. While it's reported that Liddell will have a $700,000 salary with General Motors, the average financial manager can earn in the low six figures. |
