Career Refresher Course Offered to Prepare People for Accounting Jobs

Many people who are looking for accounting and finance jobs may need a refresher on the different between accounts payable and receivable. While many may have taken accounting courses in college, those classes may have faded into distant memories.

According to the Half Moon Bay Review, Peninsula Works and Canada College will be holding a career re-freseher and retraining course for people who are interested in pursing a career in accounting.

While the program targets people who have recently been laid-off, everyone who is interested in finance and accounting are encouraged to participate.

The program starts on Sepetember 13 and will continue through early December, according to the news source. Classes will meet for 3.5 hours Monday through Thursday, at Canada's Menlo Park campus.

The course will be worth 12 units and course work includes training in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, along with basic accounting and business communication lessons.

These types of classes will be helpful to those looking to break into the accounting industry. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the accounting sector is expected to grow by 22% through 2018.
