With a competitive job market, those with a diverse selection of complementary skills have a leg up on the competition. One option is to add a Master's of Finance degree to an MBA, an option some schools are making easier. Incoming September MBA students at the Hult International Business School are being offered the chance to graduate with a Master of Finance degree simultaneously, making it possible to graduate with both degrees in only 18 months. Stephen Hodges, president of Hult and a former banker, said "We are offering our MBA students the opportunity to earn two Master's degrees because this will substantially help them in their job search." The approach is designed for those who want to fast track their careers towards areas where finance would be important, such as careers in banking of all sorts, whether investment, commercial or retail; careers in investment management, such as with hedge funds; working in accountancy firms and regulatory bodies. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that work in the field of finance and accounting will be fairly stable over the next several years, growing about as fast as average for the country. |
