Art has a way of bringing out the best in people. Local artists can be seen in almost every city, quietly contemplating their next stroke in order to best capture the essence of their subject in their piece of work. One local artist in Jacksonville, has created a one-man show, to help benefit his hometown where he grew to love art.

According to SJ-R.com, local artist Don Dennis will be hosting his own art show to benefit his hometown of Jacksonville's downtown area.

The show will exhibit a mix of oil and acrylic paints that will be available for sale, according to the news source. Fifty percent of the proceeds from all the art sold during the reception and the duration of the exhibit will be donated to the Jacksonville Main Street organization, which is working to revitalize the city’s downtown area.

"One of the things that I have a very strong interest in is the reconstruction of the downtown Jacksonville square to what it used to be, or similar," Dennis told the news source. "Growing up in Jacksonville, the downtown square was far better than it has been for the last few years. Now they're redoing that."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, almost 60% of artists across the country are self-employed.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19912964-ADNFCR
